Do you have a negative attitude or a positive attitude? How can you tell? Well answering this question will give you a clue: “Is your glass “half empty” or is it “half full?”” As you can see, the way we look at things can give us away, as to whether we have a positive outlook on life or whether we have a negative one.
As we have seen from a previous post here, our attitude can really affect our health and wellness, our very well-being. So what can we do to ensure a positive attitude? In a future post, we will discuss some practical ways that we can apply in our life, things designed to change, as necessary, our attitude from negative to positive. However, at this time, I would like to share some words of wisdom that have encouraged me to seek and maintain a positive attitude.
These “words of wisdom” and “inspirational sayings” have helped many and they have served as reminders and an inspiration toward making the effort to seek and even maintain a positive attitude. In this post I would like to share some of them with you. These are some that have inspired me and have encouraged me to keep focused on keeping a positive attitude. As you will see, some are “heavy” or profound, and others are quite “light” and simple. And, some are just quotes from some very inspirational people. Here they are.
Take Action Now!
“When do you want to know you have a hole in your boat? At the dock—or in the middle of the ocean? It is to your advantage to know now and patch it now!—Randy Larsen.“You must keep going forward so as not to get behind, although you probably will never get ahead.” —Anonymous“This is the first day of the rest of your life!” —AnonymousWhy Make Changes?
“Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you are getting!”—Anonymous“Real glory springs from the silent conquest of ourselves.” —Anonymous“Infuse healing energy into yourself, into your being. For too long, we’ve been attracted to things that drain us, exhausting our body, depleting our soul. That time has passed.”—Melody Beattie“Please God, give me the courage to change the things that can be changed, the serenity to accept the things that can not be changed, and, the wisdom to know the difference.”—Alcohol Anonymous Creed“Start thinking in solutions and options and not just in the problems themselves.” —Anonymous“People are like tea bags: if you want to know what’s inside them—drop them in “Hot Water.” —Anonymous“A man is stagnant if his dreams equal his present existence!” —Anonymous“It may be more therapeutic to fulfill your dreams than to just analyze them.” —Anonymous“Nature loves the moment, not the plan.” —Anonymous“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.—Mark Twain“The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win!” —Anonymous“If you ‘have not yet prepared your heart,’ this leaves you vulnerable to enticements that could take you away from your objective.” —Anonymous“Bad will be the day for any man when he becomes absolutely contented with the life he is living, when there is not forever beating at the doors of his soul some great desire to do something larger.”—Phillips Brooks“He who has battled with poverty and hard toil will be found stronger and more expert than he who would stay at home from the battle, concealed among the provision wagons, or unwatchfully abiding by the stuff.”—Carlyle“There is only one thing which will really train the human mind, and that is the voluntary use of the mind by the man himself. You may aid him, you may guide him, you may suggest to him, and above all you may inspire him; but the only thing worth having is that which he gets by his own exertions; and what he gets is proportionate to the efforts he puts into it.”—A. Lawrence LowellGetting the Right Perspective on Life!
“Your happiness is intertwined with your outlook on life.” —Anonymous“The important thing is not so much getting what you want as it is still wanting it after you get it.” —Anonymous“No amount of food can fill a hungry soul.” —Anonymous“True dignity is never gained by place, and never lost when honors are withdrawn.” —Anonymous“People who cannot find time for recreation are obliged sooner or later to find time for illness.”—John Wanamaker“Sometimes, the best way to find out who you are is to go somewhere where you don’t have to be anyone else.” —Anonymous“We all have a choice. You can be one who knows a lot about a few things; or a little about a lot of things. Or, you can be one who knows really nothing about everything!” —Anonymous“My greatest gift is my enthusiasm. I get excited about whatever I’m interested in. I’m like a six-year old.”—Francis Ford Coppola“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise one grows it under his feet.” —AnonymousNever Quit!
“Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” —Anonymous“When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don’t blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or our family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change.”—Thich Nhat Hahn“Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself to do the thing you have to do when it ought to be done whether you like it or not. It is the first lesson that ought to be learned and however early a person’s training begins, it is probably the last lesson a person learns thoroughly.” —AnonymousAnd finally, here is a quote on attitude from Charles Swindoll, a well known inspirational speaker. It is definitely worth considering.
ATTITUDE
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
“Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.
“The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…”
Hopefully you have not only found these “inspiration sayings” interesting and even entertaining but also encouraging—that is, encouraging you to put forth an effort to gain and maintain a positive attitude. As we continue seeking wellness together, may we all do whatever we can to live our lives with a positive outlook.
